This Austrian Standard contains a sign code for surveying maps and directives for their layout. The sign code is referred to the ÖNORM A 2261 "Catalogue of feature codes" collected objects and attributes. Surveying maps in terms of this Standard are especially inventory maps (natural inventory), project plans, basic maps for geoinformation systems. They contain the visible inventory, occasionally it is combined with underground plants, e.g. cables. Signs and marking of this Standard are only for scales from 1:200 to 1:500. For other scales it can be enlarged or reduced. For special signs in a thematic map there exists ÖNORM A 2254.
