Diese Norm gilt für Löschwasserleitungen 'trocken' oder 'nass/trocken' nach DIN 1988-6 und DIN 14462-1. Die Besonderheit dieser Be- und Entlüftungsventile liegt in der Entlüftung entgegen dem Belüfter im normalen Trinkwasserbereich, der zur Rücksaug-Sicherung dient. Die Norm gilt nicht für sogenannte Rohrentlüfter bzw. Luftabscheider, wie sie z. B. in Leitungsanlagen von geschlossenen Heizungssystemen verwendet werden. Die Norm gilt nicht für Wasserversorgungssysteme (bzw. deren Bauteile) nach DIN EN 805. Für solche erdverlegten Systeme außerhalb von Gebäuden kommt DIN EN 1074 - 4 zur Anwendung. Innerhalb von Gebäuden ist DIN EN 806 und diese Norm zuständig.
