Diese Norm gilt für die Planung, Bau, Betrieb, Änderung und Instandhaltung von Wandhydrantenanlagen einschließlich einer Löschwasserübergabestelle nach DIN 1988-600, Löschwasseranlagen mit Nichttrinkwasser, Löschwasseranlagen "trocken" sowie Anlagen mit Über- und Unterflurhydranten, die sich in nicht-öffentlichen Bereichen befinden. Für die Anbindung dieser Anlagen an das Trinkwassernetz gilt DIN 1988-600. In Gebäuden mit besonderen Risiken, z. B. Hochhäuser, können weitergehende Anforderungen erforderlich werden.
