Festgelegt sind die Anforderungen an elastische Kupplungen zur Kraftübertragung zwischen den rotierenden Wellen zweier Maschinen. Die Festlegungen gelten für Kupplungen, die Kräfte bei Drehzahlen von nicht mehr als 4000 U/min übertragen und geeignet sind, Parallelversatz, Winkelabweichungen und Axialverschiebungen auszugleichen. Weiters sind die Werkstoffe, die erforderlichen Prüfungen sowie die Abnahmebedingungen beschrieben.
