EN 60745 behandelt die Sicherheit handgeführter elektromotorisch oder -magnetisch betriebener Werkzeuge mit einer Bemessungsspannung der Elektrowerkzeuge bis 250 V für einphasige Wechselstrom- oder Gleichstromwerkzeuge und bis 440 V für dreiphasige Wechselstromwerkzeuge. Soweit es praktisch möglich ist, gilt diese Norm für die allgemeinen Gefährdungen, die von handgeführten Elektrowerkzeugen ausgehen und denen alle Personen beim bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch und beim vernünftigerweise vorhersehbaren Fehlgebrauch der Elektrowerkzeuge ausgesetzt sind. Dieser Teil gilt für Sägen mit hin- und hergehendem Sägeblatt. Elektrowerkzeuge, die von dieser Norm erfasst werden, umfassen, sind aber nicht begrenzt auf Stichsägen und Säbelsägen.
